There are few ways to make your home feel more home-y than a good comfort meal. Most people think of mac & cheese or beef stew when they dream of comfort foods, but our go-to brings us back to our southern roots, with some classic Texas smoked BBQ.
Usually around this time of year we're counting down the days until we travel to Ted's family's home in Texas to enjoy Thanksgiving with family. Instead of gravy, we always look forward to Rudy's BBQ sauce and some good creamed corn. This year we are hanging out around the 'Burgh, and already missing Texas, so we were happy to get a good taste of home today at Showcase BBQ in Homewood, which claims the fame to Pittsburgh's Best BBQ.
Showcase BBQ lived up to the hype, with its out-of-this world smoky ribs, tender brisket, and tangy BBQ sauce. Their sides surprised and delighted us-- such as baked beans that had sweet onions and savory ground beef with a little bit of spice to complete the flavor. On a sunny day, it's easy to enjoy their patio or picnic tables, and there's some seating inside too. Their portions are generous and prices fair. We likely should've saved some leftovers for dinner, but the flavor was too good, so we'll have to go back again for more!
Until then, we'll be sticking to our tried & true Thanksgiving recipes to enjoy some Texas spice around our own home. Check out some of our favorite flavors:

Southern Creamed Corn - from "Tex Mex & Southern Comfort"

May your dinner table be filled with cozy moments this season, and your home filled with happy memories all year long.
Cheers,
Julie & Ted
