In case you haven’t heard, we bought another house! This one is a bit small for our tribe to live in, but we are so excited to restore this gem to its full potential and help to bring another great homeowner into the Swissvale community. Swissvale is indeed one of our favorite up-and-coming neighborhoods, and we’ve had the honor to help sell no less than a dozen homes in the neighborhood. Throughout that time, we’ve gotten to know some great places around the block, and we’re excited to spend more time there this Spring.
The Best Swissvale Spring Spots
Now that the cold in Pittsburgh is finally breaking, we’re looking forward to sun, blue skies, and plenty of family fun! If you’re like us and love finding new things to do, here’s what we’re excited about in Swissvale this spring:
City Cafe
Location: 106 E Swissvale Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15218
One of our favorite places to stop along Swissvale Ave, City Cafe has it all! Gourmet coffee, freshly squeezed juices, premium ice cream—what’s not to love? Looking forward to bringing the kids in for a treat while Mom tries a classic drip coffee and Dad explores espresso. The tiled floors and unique decor is always a plus.
Scene 75
Location: 1775 South Braddock Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15218
Who doesn’t love indoor entertainment centers? Scene 75 made the perfect venue for Katherine’s 8th birthday party, and they have games for all ages, from bounce-houses for toddlers, to go-karts & laser tag for the bigger kids (including Ted!). And did we mention the food trucks? This is on our short-list for family fun.
Swissvale Bowl-a-Rama
Location: 2023 Noble St, Swissvale, PA 15218
If you’ve never been to Swissvale Bowl-a-Rama, you’re in for a classic Swissvale treat! The Palangio family has owned and operated the bowling alley since 1966, and it still has that family-fun feel. Just check their open lane hours before you head over.
Frick Park
Location:
From South Swissvale, access Frick Park via Commercial St.
From North Swissvale, take South Braddock Ave to Hutchinson St, then Hutchinson St to Lancaster Ave, and Lancaster Ave to Frick Lane.
Frick Park actually cuts through northern Swissvale, making it a wonderful place to take the entire family! Frick Park features 644 acres of beautiful trails and playgrounds. In addition to wandering the shady trails, we’re excited about taking the kids to the Frick Environmental Center to learn more about the surrounding area!
Swissvale Farmer’s Market
Location: 2036 Noble Street, Swissvale, PA 15218 (a block away from Bowl-a-Rama!)
The best is always worth waiting for, and that’s true for the Swissvale Farmer’s Market! The Farmer’s Market opens in June, putting it at the tail end of spring. But what a treat it is! The Swissvale Farmer’s Market is a wonderful place to spend Saturday mornings, thanks to the fresh, local produce, plenty of live music, and a wonderful community focus.
